Great piece of kit - yes you can use a towel and a weight plate but the heavier the weight larger the plate, which tips or involves more and more ‘arms’. This allows you to safely stack smaller plates, keep the load stable and where you want it. Particularly useful for lateral work! Well done Kensui.

Easy to figure out

The part you grip feels great and solid, but the threads on the sleeve only go down about 2/3 of the length, so if you're using anything thinner that a 25lb plate it's going to wobble as you use it. And their shipping method for this is really disappointing, just all the pieces together in a bag with the over things I ordered, and mine had the sleeve squished into the foam pad making it more like a v shape than a smooth curve, so it doesn't lay flush against my forehead, mainly touching in the outer edges, kind of defeating the whole purpose of this thing over the lite version...
